Soy / Soya Wax (Blocks/Chunks) (For Jar Candles)
Soya Wax is a vegetable wax made from the oil of soybeans. After harvesting, the beans are cleaned, cracked, de-hulled, and rolled into flakes. The oil is then extracted from the flakes and hydrogenated.
The hydrogenation process converts some of the fatty acids in the oil from unsaturated to saturated. This process dramatically alters the melting point of the oil, making it a solid at room temperature. The leftover bean husks are commonly used as animal feed.
The soy wax (blocks/chunks) are designed for jar candles specifically, however the same can be used with other candle waxes to make varied blends for pillar candles as well. Ensure your container is warm before pouring and allow it to cool slowly. Some 'frosting' (blooming) is normal with soy waxes, especially when using dyes.
Fragrance Load: 6%-8%
Note: Many fragrances can face throw issues with pure soy wax candles. In this case, we recommend using a blend of soy and beeswax/sunflower wax for a better throw. You can also blend the fragrance with Isopropyl Myristate (IPM) or Dipropylene Glycol (DPG) fixative in a 1:1 ratio before adding the same to the wax.
Grade: AA+ (This is similar to 464-grade soy wax)
Melting Point: 45-48 degree celcius
Recommended Temparature for Fragrance Addition: 76-78 degree celcius. Only add your fragrance when your wax temperature is below the flashpoint of the fragrance. This recommended temprature will vary from fragrance to fragrance and the user is requested to test the same before bulk production.
Recomended Pour Temprature: 73-74 degree celcius
Difference between soy wax flakes and soy wax chunks/blocks: Unsaturated fatty acid soy oil is added while hydrogenating in soy wax chunks/blocks. However, the same is removed in soy wax flakes and stearic acid is also removed additionally for soy wax flakes.
